Pedigree

Cut me in, I don't know where I should begin.
I guess it started way back when we were just kids.
You had the biggest house I'd ever seen.
My mom was the one they paid to clean it.
I've got a low-class pedigree.
Don't really care what you think about me.
Because I'm maladjusted.
And my dreams are busted.
But I've got all I need
here with me.
And I know I'll get on
with a broken dream and a song.
As we got older
all the lines we drew got bolder
while the gaps were getting wider
and the shoulders got colder.
It's too bad I couldn't afford new shoes.
I guess that meant I'm not as cool as you.
I can't speak for you.
You can't speak for me.
We can only speak about what we can see.
I know that nothing comes for free.
But no one is working harder than me.
Maybe we're all slaves
in this land of free,
but all it takes is just a little empathy.
The world could be a better place.
We could save the human race.
